That 70's Yarn - Handspun BFL & Silk Blend
What a fun spin! This 75% Bluefaced Leicester blended with 25% silk had me wanting to relive my 70's-influenced childhood all over again! Scenes of burgundy velvet and couches upholstered in yellow and orange plaid flooded my mind constantly while working with this carded fiber.
This lofty BFL has a beautiful shine to it with the addition of silk and I would consider it next-to-skin suitable. Each single strand was spun woolen style on my SpinOlution Firefly and then made into a 2-ply yarn using my SpinOlution Echo. It measures out at 12 wraps per inch, making this a nice sport weight yarn.
Available as 3 regular sized hanks, each approx 250 yards and 3.5oz. There is also one mini hank at just over 1.5oz and approx 115 yards. They may be purchased separately or all together (at a 10% discount) for a total of 865 yards and 12oz total.
Special Note: One of the hanks has two knots that will be within the first 12 yards of the skein when it has been balled. The first 12 yards is NOT calculated into the total yardage of the skein, so it is just a small bonus amount. This will be noted on the product tag.
This yarn is available as-is in hank form or it can be wound off into a ball. Note that if it is wound off into a ball it is NON RETURNABLE for any reason. The increase in cost is due to the extra shipping charges incurred as the yarn in a ball must be sent in a box rather than a soft-sided envelope.
Please remember, this is handspun and there will be various textures and yarn weights throughout the skein. I do my best to accurately represent the overall size and nature of the yarn, but it will vary.
Care instructions: To prevent extreme shrinkage and felting, handwash gently in cold water, lay flat to dry. Do not machine dry. Do not agitate vigorously in water. Do not ring out -- press flat to express excess water.
