100% Romney wool, handspun into a bulky weight yarn in colors that remind me of the mossy trees in the Pacific Northwest.

Both skeins were dyed in a crockpot and have small areas of broken dye, adding brown pitting and specks of orangish brown (please see close-ups for details). The darker green was dyed first, and once the color I wished for was achieved, I tossed a second skein into the dye bath to exhaust the color. While different colors, they are from the same dye and go well together if you should like to use them in the same project! Each skein has been washed and set to remove extra dye, but please wash separately until you are certain there are no longer any loose dye particles.

Skein 1, darker green, is 4.2oz and approximately 60yd in length. I measured this at roughly 6 wraps per inch, equaling a chunky/bulky weight yarn.

Skein 2, lighter green, is 3.5oz and approximately 46yd in length. It is also roughly 6 wraps per inch for a chunky/bulky weight yarn.

This yarn is available as-is in hank form or it can be wound off into a ball. Note that if it is wound off into a ball it is NON RETURNABLE for any reason. The increase in cost is due to the extra shipping charges incurred as the yarn in a ball must be sent in a box rather than a soft-sided envelope.

These yarns were all spun in a woolen style on a Schacht Sidekick spinning wheel. Romney wool is a coarser yarn that is considered highly durable, making it a great option for outerwear. This is very lofty and would be ideal for a chunky hat or as an artsy add-in to a finer weight project. Please remember, these are handspun and there will be various textures and yarn weights throughout the skein. I do my best to accurately represent the overall size and nature of the yarn, but it will vary.

Care instructions: To prevent extreme shrinkage and felting, handwash gently in cold water, lay flat to dry. Do not machine dry. Do not agitate vigorously in water. Do not ring out -- press flat to express excess water.

This yarn was spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.

The photos of my yarns may be altered in an effort to best represent the colors, but due to variances in monitors/screens, please note that these are best representations and may appear differently in person. If you are not happy with the color (or anything else about the yarn), you may return it in NEW condition (still in the skein, not in a ball or partially used) at your own shipping expense within 14 days of receipt for a refund (minus shipping).
