Iris Eyes - 100% Romney Wool
100% Romney wool, handspun into a bulky weight yarn reminiscent of the eyes of a purple iris. Beautiful purplish blues, light yellow-greens, and light-to-deep browns to keep the colors earthy.
This fiber was dyed by an independent dyer (I no longer remember who), not myself. Each skein has been washed and set to remove extra dye, but please wash separately until you are certain there are no longer any loose dye particles.
Skein 1 is 4oz and approximately 75yds in length. I measured this at roughly 6 wraps/inch, equaling a bulky weight yarn.
SOLD Skein 2 is 4.5oz and approximately 80yds in length. It is also roughly 6 wraps/inch for a bulky weight yarn.
These yarns were all spun in a woolen style on a Schacht Sidekick spinning wheel. Romney wool is a coarser yarn that is considered highly durable, making it a great option for outerwear. I have had great success crocheting Romney into slippers and then felting them! Please remember, these are handspun and there will be various textures and yarn weights throughout the skein. I do my best to accurately represent the overall size and nature of the yarn, but it will vary.
This yarn is available as-is in hank form or it can be wound off into a ball. Note that if it is wound off into a ball it is NON RETURNABLE for any reason. The increase in cost is due to the extra shipping charges incurred as the yarn in a ball must be sent in a box rather than a soft-sided envelope.
Care instructions: To prevent extreme shrinkage and felting, handwash gently in cold water, lay flat to dry. Do not machine dry. Do not agitate vigorously in water. Do not ring out -- press flat to express excess water.
This yarn was spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
The photos of my yarns may be altered in an effort to best represent the colors, but due to variances in monitors/screens, please note that these are best representations and may appear differently in person. If you are not happy with the color (or anything else about the yarn), you may return it in NEW condition (still in the skein, not in a ball or partially used) at your own shipping expense within 14 days of receipt for a refund (minus shipping).
