Feeling Elvish - Merino, Camel, & Silk Blend - Light DK/Heavy Sport
If you are looking for the ultimate luxury yarn, you've found it! This is the softest fiber my hands have ever touched with a beautiful shine and great elasticity. These two hanks were dyed by Greenwood Fiberworks and, while I intended to keep all of this preciousness to myself, I've decided to share the load, instead!
Each hank is 4oz and 285yd. While winding, I tested each hank twice to measure wraps per inch and each comes in on average between 12-13 wpi. According to the Ashford gauge guide, this is a sport weight yarn, while I would consider it more like a light DK weight. I always suggest swatching as even some of the most consistent handspun yarns will have variations in gauge.
Both hanks were spun in a semi-woolen method on my SpinOlution Echo, lending to the elasticity of the fibers, and then chain-plied to keep the colors distinct and brilliant. The downy camel fibers add halo and combine with the softness of the merino and shine of silk to make this 100% next-to-skin soft.
Pictures are taken outdoors in natural light and the yarn was spun in a smoke-free, pet friendly home. They have been washed, dried, and reskeined for accurate weight and length measurements. My yarns are never weighted to dry.
This yarn is available as-is in hank form or it can be wound off into a ball. Note that if it is wound off into a ball it is NON RETURNABLE for any reason. The increase in cost is due to the extra shipping charges incurred as the yarn in a ball must be sent in a box rather than a soft-sided envelope. To have the yarn wound into a ball, please add the service to your cart here: Ball Winding Service
Care instructions: To prevent extreme shrinkage and felting, handwash gently in cold water, lay flat to dry. Do not put in a dryer. Do not agitate vigorously in water. Do not ring out -- press flat to express excess water.
