This handspun Cheviot single, plied with a royal blue silk thread reminds me of the deep colors of an Arizona sunset amongst the Saguaros. It is spun in a semi-woolen method very finely, and then to preserve the yardage and increase its strength, it was plied with a vibrant blue silk thread. There is a beautiful mixture of deep reds, oranges, and yellows, while the blue thread adds a touch of coolness to the overall blend of colors.

This roving was purchased in Tucson, AZ; dyer unknown. The skein has been washed and set to remove extra dye, but please wash separately until you are certain there are no longer any loose dye particles.

Cheviot wool is considered medium fineness, giving it a good balance between softness and durability. I am currently working with another version of this same yarn for a v-shawl that is turning out beautifully!

The skein weighs 3.75oz and measures approximately 440 yards in length.

This yarn was spun in a semi-woolen style (to keep some loft in the final product) on a Schacht Sidekick spinning wheel. Please remember, these are handspun and there will be various textures and yarn weights throughout the skein.

This yarn is available as-is in hank form or it can be wound off into a ball. Note that if it is wound off into a ball it is NON RETURNABLE for any reason. The increase in cost is due to the extra shipping charges incurred as the yarn in a ball must be sent in a box rather than a soft-sided envelope.

Care instructions: To prevent extreme shrinkage and felting, handwash gently in cold water, lay flat to dry. Do not put machine dry. Do not agitate vigorously in water. Do not ring out -- press flat to express excess water.

This yarn was spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
